If you are intending to use the 5995TG in the feedback mode, think again. As it seems that the 50us pulse feedback protocol does not work on this servo... which is incredibly annoying seeing that many sites suggest it has this feature along with the box it comes in having "Position Data Feed Back" written on it.

Richard and myself have tried to get the servo to respond to the 50us pulse but with no luck. Richard has had some luck with the 8498 servo.

I contacted Hitec about the feedback mode on the 5995 and this was the reply:

"Hi Matt,

The link you provided on the German website is for the HSR-8498. Unfortunately, the HSR-5995 is an older version Robot servo and does not have the feedback capabilities.

I will check with R&D to see if I am mistaken."

Dosen't bode well!

One other issue with the 5995 servo, which probably does not effect robotics users, but for animatronics can be a problem. If you connect two of these servos together with a Y-lead, they will not work!

I think this is either to do with the servos sending each other into serial mode, or something to do with the electrical interface.
