Hitec's Robotics devision and products..
So any thoughts on Hitec's sub-division of robotics. Seems like the obvious step to take for an R/C manufacturer. I'm curious to see what products they plan to release? Any one know?

The robonova-I looks pretty good. Does anybody know what the electronics do? Is it just a servo multiplexer, or is there some form of body and walking control built in?

I have tried to check out the video's but there doesn't seem to be any on the site at the moment.

Any comments?

re: Hitec's Robotics devision and products..
I hope you wont regret asking for comments as I launch into a rant I think I must be sleep deprived - but agggh frustrating, everywhere I looked for info on the 'Micom' controller people only regurgitating sparse info and photos from Hitecs own site. didn't turn up anything on the dedicated forums either - is it possible that nobody knows... not even Hitec? ;). At least we know whats on the board in terms of hardware from Hitecs catalogue... CPU ATMega 128 64k flash - (wot? its supposed to have the eponymous 128k isn't it) doesn't say how much RAM aught to be 8k though I think... certainly it would have the ability to store a fair few movements and computational ability several orders of magnitude beyond Robosapien. My hunch, on the premise that if it did much more than act as a servo multiplexer they'd boast about it - is that it doesnt! There's promises about future upgrades though by 'internest' (sic) download, whatever that is ;) 'Catch and play' programming needs Roboscript or Robobasic, both of which are PC apps, another indication that the Micon controller has been suppied only with some dumb receiver software - if I were them I'd at least put timing and inter-frame interpolation on the board make it earn its keep - and drastically cut the bandwidth needed for control - (better for IR) - hmmmn so HSR-8498HB servos can be used for 'lead by nose' aka 'catch and play' programming - very intersting - ran rant - hmmnn what does this aeroplane emoticon emote? I'm off on holiday... or I'm flying off topic... I don't do forums very much - so I worry that I'm make some faux pas by choosing the wrong emoticon... or going off topic... or...

LOL

Nice rant.. as long as its clean you can rant all you like.. Maybe I should have used the aeroplane symbol as I have just returned from a 10 day trip. Which is why I have not been replying to messages. sorry :)

I reckon your right about robonova, they have released pictures early to drum up interest and get people talking, but don't really know much about the product.

Oh well it seems to have worked. We're talking!

You should be able to find what you need from here:

http://www.hitecrobotics.com/info/downloads.htm

The 3024 can be downloaded from Robobasic or roboscript, then operate on its own. The programmablity, ability to use servo groups and to perform the point to point control, sets it above normal servo multiplexers.

Check out robosavvy.com for more info on Robonova and 3024

Thanks for the info Richard,

Unfortunately the HMI document still doesn't explain waht the three mystery parameters are? Or is there something I'm missing?
