re: Hexapod
Hi

I'm afraid the kit is not for sale. I have looked at releasing a kit version of my hexapods many times, however, the cost always seems too prohibitive to the hobbyists market. This is due to the price of the servos; I use high quality Futaba servos that I know I can trust. I have tried many other makes, but none measure up, and there is no point in me releasing a kit that is unreliable. Sorry.

P.S. Why version 1 hexapod?

Matt.

Re: Hexapod

is there any way in witch you can perhaps not sell a kit, but directions and recomendations on how to build and program one of your Hexobots? im very interested in the ic hexabot, and wondering if that information is available.

Re: Hexapod

Hi Robort, welcome to the forum!

Since writing this post I have spent more time working on a kit version, along with a robot controller called the p.Brain. There is still a little way to go with these, and I am concentrating on the p.Brain first. The kit hexapod is based on my V3 design, eg. desktop sized. As for iC, I may do a kit this size one day, but I doubt it will have the face tracking capabilites.

cheers,

Matt.

Re: Hexapod

would there perhaps be a way in witch you could include for those willing to purchase the parts on how to set up a face tracking system in the hexabot, also in this kit your designing, would it be remote controlled our A.I.?

Re: Hexapod

Hi Roboert,

It would certainly be possible to tell people what is required in order to achieve face tracking, hardware and software libraries etc. most of which can be found on my hexapodrobot.com website.

As for the kits, I will probably release a version of the p.Brain with a dedicated locomotion engine for all leg and body control. The user simply sends serial commands like forwards/backwards/left/right and body rotation etc. So it could be remote controlled, or you could add your own A.I for obsticale avoidance using a seperate micro controller which sends the p.Brain locomotion commands.

Re: Hexapod

That sounds good, so as for the website, it would be able to give me the information on how to program and build one or just program? and would you be able to tell me the relative price range that i would need to build my own? or perhaps what i would need to save to buy the kit you plan to release?

Re: Hexapod

Hi Robert,

I need to get the p.Brain finished first, which is one of the building blocks of iC. However, if you are really interested in building a face tracking robot, you can go to the OpenCV forums/website and start working on face tracking using a webcam.

Just to give you some idea of cost, iC's servos cost arround £1600. However, you don't have to use the same ones.

Re: Hexapod

Hi,

The servos on iC are Futaba 9206 types. They can deliver about 10/11 Kg/cm of torque.
